Bringing in your own PDF or DXF
Short answer: Open the job, click Add customer files… or drag files onto the window. PDF, DXF, STEP and STL files up to 2 GB each. The customer's original is never changed, and nothing leaves your computer.
Step by step
- Open the job (Files → pick it, or New workspace).
- Click Add customer files… or drag them in.
- The file appears under Originals, never changed.
- Click Create working copy to make changes, and every save is kept.
- For a DXF, click Inspect DXF to catch open shapes, doubles and overlaps before cutting.
If a file won't go in
Job Shop Office checks every file first, so a bad file never makes it into your job, and nothing is changed.
| Message says | Do this |
|---|---|
| not a file type this version can take in | Export it to PDF or DXF from the program that made it. |
| named as a DXF but its contents are a PDF (or similar) | Rename the file to match, or pick the right one. |
| does not look like a DXF inside | The file is damaged. Ask the sender for it again. |
| could not be opened / read | Copy the file to your desktop and try again. |
"Ready" means the file passed Job Shop Office's geometry checks. It doesn't mean approved for production. Your shop still decides that.
